About
Eating right can be hard to do but if you do it right, you can make it a habit. It is important to know how much to eat, and what foods will give the most nutrition for better health. Fortunately, the following tips will help you easily plan a nutritious daily diet. Make sure that you are getting enough calcium in your foods. Calcium is an important mineral that helps in building strong bones and teeth, and in preventing osteoporosis. A deficiency in calcium will lead to brittle bones, which will result in serious bone fractures during a fall. So, calcium is essential is maintaining a healthy body. Legumes are superstars of the nutritional world. They provide protein and help balance blood sugar. But they may seem dull. Just dress them up in a good recipe and they are superstars of taste also: lentils become a good veggie burger, chick peas become hummus, beans excel in Mexican dishes, and there is nothing better than a bowl of homemade pea soup on a cold winter day! When considering your nutrition intake at a fast food restaurant, what may seem like the lesser of two evils may not always be the healthiest. Chicken often times ends up having more sodium and calories than a burger due to toppings such as ranch and additions such as bacon. If you feel as though you must satisfy a fast food craving, be sure to check the nutrition chart first. Instead of reaching for coffee or an energy drink the moment that you wake up, turn to a grapefruit, apple or orange instead. Natural fruits are fantastic for your body because they come with a multitude of vitamins that are essential for your health and nutrition. Adding these to your routine, can also improve your energy level during the day. Remember to enjoy pure dark chocolate rather than its watered down cousin, milk chocolate, or the impostor, white chocolate. This kind contains more of the compounds that make chocolate healthy than the others. Antioxidants also tip the balance of HDL and LDL cholesterol toward the "good" HDL variety. Look for chocolate that is marked 70 percent or higher in cocoa for the most benefit. However, enjoy dark chocolate in moderation because it is high in calories.
