Barrelled

A body surfer at Zuma Beach in Los Angeles takes one last breath before the "barrel" of the wave closes on him.  It looks violent, but is actually one of the safer places to be when a wave is breaking....besides the shore.

Zuma Beach - 25 May 2025

Waves were pumping and this bodyboarder was enjoying every minute of it.  I normally shoot surfers at a high frame rate (2500+), but dialed it back on these shots to 1/600 and 1/2000 (resp.) to get a smoother look out of the water
