mg 6120 wireless setup

eam4094

I am trying to setup my mg6120 for wireless printing, after the printer has been in storage for a while.  I am using a Lenovo T61 with windows XP professional OS.  I have a Net Gear wireless router.  I have gone through the setup procedure as outlined on the Canon website under wireless help.  The printer recognizes my router and I input my passphrase which was accepted.  The printer told me it was hooked up with the router.  The wifi light is on.  But unless I use the USB cable, my computer will not recognize the printer (shows it offline).  I do not have/have not found the CD that came with the printer. Please help

Hi eam4094,

Since the printer is aleady connected to your router wirelessly, installing the latest drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website should allow you to print wirelessly from your computer.  When installing the drivers, please ensure that any antivirus for firewall software that is on your computer is temporarily disabled, as these programs can sometimes block the printer from being detected on the network. Once the printer is detected successfully, the protection software can be re-enabled.

Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MG6120. Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:

1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.

2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "RECOMMENDED DOWNLOADS" section and click the MP drivers file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.

Once you have downloaded the MP drivers file, please double-click on it and follow the prompts to install the printer on your computer.  Should you still experience difficulty printing wirelessly, please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.
