MG8120B - Will not be discovered using WiFi ... setup failure - Windows 7

Windows 7 - all features of printer / scanner etc. have been used via WiFi successfully for quite some time.  Within past month, WiFi stopped working.  Uninstalled all programs and drivers.  Removed printer.  Treated as new install with  CD.  Connected to router ... WiFi light is on and recived the successful connection message on the printer console.  Installed software from ground zero following the procedure for wireless in the manual.  The printer is not discoverable.  Pinged the printer according to the IP Address  10.0.0.15.  Have recived success message sometimes, and other times have received the message that the destination host is unreachable ... citing a different IP Address.  Did download and install an updated driver from Canon.  Same problem upon cold start of the system and the printer.  Have also re-enabled Bonjour ... no success.  Yesterday, I did this and could scan wirelessly, but not print.  Interim solution ... plugged in the USB cable and can now print "hello world" from Notepad ... still can't scan from printer console ... "Set the PC to Start Scanning".  This is pretty much of a mess, and I have spent several hours over 2 days trying to resolve it.  Forum answers haven't been helpful.  Yes.  Windows 7 "discoverable" parameter is turned on.
