Connecting my MG3050 printer

Hi guys

           I have just got a new Canon MG3050 printer and i have been trying to set it up. I switched it on but when i held the network button down like it said in the guide nothing happened and no light came on, apart from the green light flashing. I have restarted the printer numerous times but the same keeps happening. Not sure what to do tbh !!
