Canon Pixma MP495 and how to Wireless without USB Cable

Hello

RE: Canon Pixma MP495

-----------------------------------

Is there a way to setup our printer to be wireless without USB cable?

We have owned this printer for few years, and absolutely love the page yield per cartridge.  We did not setup the wireless feature, only using  the USB cable that connects laptop to printer...unfortunately, I tripped over the USB cable while still connected to printer... this resulted in both damaging the usb cable (printer end) and the usb port of the printer.

The wireless light does turn on the printer, but doesn't recognize a print job.

Wise option would be to purchase a new printer; however, we have a few unopened ink cartridges ($45 each) and want to find a way to be able to get printer to work.

1.  Is it possible to setup wireless feature to work without using usb cable?

2. OR is there a way to replace the printer USB port? if yes, can one be removed from non working canon printer?  How does one remove & replace this part?

** Furthermore, we live in remote rural area, the only way for internet access is via our smartphone hotspot.... thus router features are not available to problem solve.

Any suggestions/ input is welcomed.

Thank you

Gem

Hello.

The USB cable was included with the printer because it is required to perform the wireless configuration.  The wireless configuration cannot be performed without a direct connection.

Since there is visible damage to the printer, this would have to be addressed by our support group.  Please use the "Contact Us" link below to get in touch with our support group.
