I am not familar with your exact model, but many people complain of this same issue.  One of the buttons works as a "shift" button, when pressed and held it enables display of a second set of special characters.  It might be the Asterik or Pound key?  Sorry I just don't remember which but the function is there for special characters.

Hi saparks48,

When entering your password, the "=" sign can be entered by first pressing the A 1@ button in the lower left corner and then the Shift key (the button with up arrow).
