where do i find the serial numbers on the speedlites?

I have long since thrown out boxes for my 580 exII speedlite. Where do I find the serial number on the unit?

It's on the section of the unit that carries the light, on the side opposite to the one that says "SPEEDLITE 580EXII". It's on a panel with a bunch of symbols, beginning with the symbol for "Don't throw this in the trash". It's under the symbol for "This unit operates at 6 volts".
