Is it possible to use older Canon 550 EX as a master for newer 430 EX II (2)?
Could not find this answer anywhere on the net.

Yes, the 550EX can be used as a master for a 430EX II.
All settings and changes must be done on the flash itself because the 550EX is an older design that predates newer cameras that have a built-in flash menu.
