EOS Utility 3 stopped working, crashes on startup (Windows 10)

[ Edited ]

I had been using EOS Utility 3 successfully for a long time, and I love it!.  Today, it crashes on startup( I see the splash screen showing ver3,then itt crahses, see event info below:

Faulting application name: EOS Utility 3.exe, version: 3.10.20.0, time stamp: 0x5c356928
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.17134.885, time stamp: 0x59816e73
Exception code: 0xe0434352

I've tried rebooting and re-installing.  As far as I can tell, I'm using the latest version. EOS Utility 2 works fine on my older Canon...

Any suggestions?

thanx, mark

Greeitngs,

What version of windows are you using?

Have you recently updated or upgraded the OS?

What AntiVirus are you running?

A few things you can try.

Create and new user profile with admin permissions.  Test the utility again and see if the behavior follows?

Run SFC /SCANNOW from a elevated command prompt and check the OS for integrity violations.

Re: EOS Utility 3 stopped working, crashes on startup (Windows 10)

I'm running the latest Windows 10, it automatically updates from MicroSoft. Running McAffee virus.

Creating another user profile works.  So there is something "bad" in my user profile, how do I clean it all out?  I tried removing and re-installing to no avail...

thannx for your suggestsions.
