Apple Aperture supports 7D mark II RAW?

Edward1064

In a couple days I will receive a new 7D mark II, which will be an upgrade from my 60 D.  The question just  occurs to me of whether my Apple Aperture processing software (on a Macbook) will be able to handle RAW files from my new camera.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

Edward

I believe RAW file access is controlled at the system level by Apple macOS, so as long as Aperture runs on your OS the files can be opened.

Just found this - http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=23702.0

John,

Thank you.  I will be optimistic as I await my new 7D.

John is right.

While I don't have a 7D II to test, Apple's "Camera RAW" updates are designed to work at the OS level -- not at the application level.  So while Apple doesn't provide any new updates to "Aperture", they do provide updates to "Photos".  Also, the "Preview" app, "Quicklook" feature of Finder, and Finder itself all share the same Camera RAW update support.

John, Tim,

Now that I have received my 7D II and tested it, I can confirm that you both are correct: Apple Aperture can read my RAW files.  But another question has come up for me, which belongs in the EOS listings and I will bring it there.

Thank you for your responses!

Hi Edward.

I don't understand what you mean by EOS listing.

He means the "EOS" subject area of the "Camera" forum.

Got it. I misread it as the question that came up was "Which belongs in the EOS listings." Smiley Embarassed
