Robber Fly Closeup

Shot with an EOS R5 and RF 100mm f/2.8L macro. I would have loved to been able to set up my tripod, but these were taken hand held while I was hanging over a wooden rail 🙂

This is a Robber Fly female (Ommatius floridensis) laying eggs. She is about 10mm or 1/2" long, so fairly small, I could only get so close and had to crop a bit.

1/500th, f/8, ISO 8000.

I've seen several complaints that it has really bad focus shift, but I haven't experienced that.

Newton, I take my hat off to you, those are magnificant images and are a credit to the gear, but most of all you as the photographer

Thank you, Trevor, that means a lot to me! These shots were quite challenging because of wind and fading evening light.

Outstanding photos! Clear with vivid colors! Thanks for sharing the photos and the camera details.

That is going to be a tough act to follow.
