What scanners would be the best for scanning film negatives and old photos to digitize them?

Greetings,
I do not believe Canon makes scanners specifically designed to scan negatives and film any longer. They have a good selection of photo and document scanners. I have used a flatbed scanner in a pinch for a few slides. Lide 400. Its somewhat of a manual process and probably not the best solution if you have many slides or negatives.
You can try amazon. They have film and negative scanners that can make quick work of digitizing your memories. Plustek is one of the more popular brands.
