Hi all,
I just got my new c500 mk2 and I’m trying to understand how the slow motion system works.
when selecting any of the compressed raw rec formats (HQ, ST or LT) I cannot change the fps and get stuck in the system frequece choosed. The only way to change the fps is by shooting RAW or XFAVC format ( no compressed raw) and activate the slow&fast motion option under recording mode submenu. Also in RAW color depth only seems to be 12 bit at 24fps no matter if in FF, s35 or s16 frame size.
So my question is how can I choose a different fps in s35 RAW LT format (and ST/HQ) ? Will it be 12 bit or 10 bit above 24 fps ?
Playback timeline (project) will be 24fps.
thanks in advance
Rodrigo

Hello RodrigoLizana,
The slow & fast motion recording feature is not going to be available with the main recording format is set to [RAW HQ], [RAW ST], or [RAW LT] unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply. I was really looking into these compressed raw formats but with only one frame rate they don´t really work for me except for interviews.

Hey Rodrigo,
If you shoot RAWLT (I imagine this is the same for the other raw codecs as well but not 100 percent sure) you can switch your frame rate from 23.98 to 59.97. I set up a hotkey on the side of the c500 where the SQ button is to change it that way. You will have to "conform" that 59.97 footage to 23.98 in post but it is a fairly simple process and you get the bonus of having audio attached to your file as well. You will not be able to play back in slow motion in camera as well.

Hi Nick, thanks for the advice but this way you can only choose between two fps options (23.98 and 59.94) and you still need to conform the clips later which is an extra step. Plus the limitation you can't review the clip at slow motion in camera is a deal beaker for me. Not sure why Canon crippled its compressed raw codecs with this weird limitations. I think I will shot with either the full RAW or XF-AVC codecs. Thanks again.
