Can iPhone 15pro flashlight damage c80 sensor?

Hi somewhat of an odd question. I recently borrowed my friends C80 and as I was focusing it with a 35mm lens, I focused the camera on an iphone 15pro flashlight for a couple minutes. Now I'm a bit paranoid that I may have damaged the sensor. Is pointing and focusing a camera at an iPhone 15pro flashlight okay? Thank you!

Do you have any reason to think that the sensor is damaged?  If not, why worry?

I think you're pretty safe here.  A flashlight just isn't that powerful, even focussed.  Pointing your camera at the Sun is certainly a potential problem, but a flashlight is millions of times dimmer than that.  So, I would guess that you're fine.

Lasers cause damage by focusing all the light (energy) to a few pixels. By definition, a flashlight has a spread-out beam and is unlikely to cause damage.

Hi kenorj5,

I understand your concern. As other posters mentioned the camera is likely okay. Most flashlights have low enough intensity that limited exposure is likely okay. There is always a chance that pointing a camera at a light source can cause damage since lenses concentrate the light though, so we do not recommend pointing the camera directly at a light source for that reason. If a sensor gets damaged it would show in videos recorded on the camera going forward.

Typically if the sensor was damaged there would be off colored spots on in every image, or there would be dead pixels in every image. A dead pixel would be a pixel that is usually colored white, magenta, green, red, or blue. A dead pixel would always be in the same spot in every video taken. If there aren't any image issues when your friend shoots a video it is likely okay.
