i9900 and Mac Catalina 10.15 upgrade

I see that Canon has stopped supporting its own "professional" printers on Mac operating systems. Is Canon planning to create a driver for Mac OS Catalina 10.15, or is Canon no longer compatible with Mac products for professional applications?

Hi jimbowesto,

 

There are no plans at the time to develop a macOS v10.15 driver for the i9900.  The last drivers issued for the i9900 were for OS X v10.6. 

 

You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

Respectfully Patrick, why would I replace an old Canon product that was under-supoorted by Canon with a new one? Isn't it plain as day to see that Canon does not support its equipment for its functional life?

 

For me, value means a product that is fully supported by the manufacturer for the full duration of its functional useful life. Clearly, that is not Canon.

Oh here we go again...  Respectfully jimbowesto...  expecting a product to be supported forever is not a realistic expectation.  This is a 15 yr old device..  maybe you should keep one of your MACs that long and see how that goes. 

 

It was Apple who decided to stop supporting 32bit and go to "64bit only" support, NOT Canon. 

 

I know, Apple and your coveted MAC has failed you, but somehow you will blame Canon for its shortcomings.

I don't expect a product to be supported forever. 15 years is not forever. Its 15 years. Failing to work together to support equipment defeats both enterprises' longer term interests. I don't "covet" my Mac. I have no interest in blame. How is that you are a "respected" contributor?
