IMAGE PROGRAF PRO-300 Clogged Heads

Timcarpenter
Apprentice

I have 4 year prograf pro-300 printer that is 4 years old.  I have not been printing nearly as much as I had planned.  Originally, it was once every 2-3 months.  Due to work obligations I have not printed anything for at least 6-8 months.  I went to print a card last night and the Y seems to be completely clogged.  I've done the nozzle print pattern and found issues with others.  Cleaning has helped most of the issues with some irregularities in 1 color and Y still not printing at all.  I've done one deep clean.

Some of the guidance in Canon literature is to do another deep clean. If that doesn't do it, replace the cartridges that still have an issue.  I hate to do that only to find a need to service the printer head and then have wasted new ink cartridges on trying.

Appreciate any guidance.

Hi Timcarpenter,

Please perform one or two deep cleanings.  To do this, please follow the steps on this page:

PRO-300 series > Maintenance and Consumables > Print Head > Deep Print Head Cleaning

If the nozzle check still does not print correctly, your PRO-300 would require service.

The issue may be caused by a clogged printhead.  The printhead is available directly from Canon.

Please note, there is no guarantee that replacing the printhead will resolve the issue that you are experiencing and there are no returns or refunds provided for parts purchased.

If you choose to replace the printhead, you may purchase it directly from Canon by dialing 1-866-481-2569.  The hours of operation the Parts Department are 9:00 AM to 7 PM ET, Monday through Friday.  They can provide you with availability and cost.

To replace the printhead, you may follow the procedure here:

Reseat / Replace the Print Head - PRO-200 / PRO-300

You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
