TS 3322 wont communicate over new 5G router

We just upgraded our internet to 5G fiber optic.  Up until now the TS 3322 printer and the desktop computer worked flawlessly for printing and scanning.  But since the new connection, they can't talk.  I did the usual thing of pressing and holding the buttons, and the printer actually indicates it is connected to the new network.  I update all of the drivers in the computer.  I printed a network configuration page which says "there is no problem." It also says the frequency is 2.4Ghz.  I talked to Fidium and they can see the printer on the network, so it is connected.  They say the 2.4 Ghz standard setting is the issue, and we should be able to do something on the printer side to make this work.  Looking for any help on how to do that.

The printer has a 2.4 GHz radio that's supports WPA2 encryption.  It cannot see, communicate or connect with a 5 GHz or higher broadcast. 

Most dual or tri-band routers support 2.4, 5, 6 or 7G. The number of bands varies by model. 

The printer has no configurable options.  For your ISP to tell you there's something to change on the printer is incorrect.  

Don't take their word for it,   Log into your router and verify the wireless configuration yourself.  Ensure a 2.4 GHz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption is enabled and broadcasting.  This is the broadcast your printer can see and connect to. 

Most wireless routers come pre-configured to use the same SSID name for multiple bands 2.4/5/6/7.  Many newer models also come pre-configured for WPA3 encryption.  

There are a few things you can do while troubleshooting.  One is to give each broadcast a unique name.  Example myhouse2.4, myhouse5-1, myhouse5-2, etc.  You can also temporarily disable all broadcasts except the 2.4 while making a connection, then re-enable the others.  Must new routers also come with the option to enable WPA3/WPA2 which enables backwards compatibility.  This allows newer devices that support WPA3 to use that encryption, standard and older devices like the printer to use the WPA2 encryption standard.  

One last suggestion since you will be in your routers admin portal.  After the printer is connected, look at the list of attached devices and verify the IP it has assigned to the printer.  Now reserve or assign this IP as a static IP to the printer.  Once this is done, install the printer as an IP printer on your PC or Mac.  This ensures persistency and establishes a static destination for the printer on your network.  One that will never change.  Any device that connects to your network will always be able to find it at its IP (destination).

Wow, thank you.  I will try these things.  As I typed the scenario, I figured Fidium was wrong.

I am still having this problem.  I downloaded a Canon app to troubleshoot the problem.  It said it fixed the problem, and it printed a test page, which I told it to do from the computer.  But when I try to print anything else, first it says it is collecting printer status, which lasts about 2 minutes, then it says the printer is offline.  Fidium runs 5g and 2.4g simultaneously on one network.  When I look on the back of the router, both the 5g and 2.4g lights are on.  The Fidium app says the printer is connected to the network, and that the signal is "excellent" (they are literally 6 inches apart).  The password is correct.  The printer display indicates it is connected.  The network configuration page which prints when you press the i button says "there is no problem". I can look at the IP address assigned to each device on the network; each device connected to the router has its own unique IP address, including the firesticks and the mobile devices.  It does not appear I can control much on the router.  There is auto mode and router only mode, and I have tried them both. The app says this is a WPA 2 network. I tried downloading a document from the internet to the drive to print; no difference

I finally got frustrated, moved the printer next to the computer, plugged it in using an ethernet cable, rebooted the computer.  Not elegant, but it works.

What does the Fidium App or router's admin portal (attached devices list) show?  What is the IP it has assigned to the printer?  Do not go by what the printers network configuration prints.  However, they should match.  

Ping this IP address from a command prompt.  What is the result?  You should get replies to the ping.

Do you have a 3rd party anti-virus application installed?  Just asking to cover all bases.

Hi,

Looks like we posted over one another .  🙂.  You mentioned Ethernet above.  The TS3322 doesn't have an ethernet port. Only USB or Wi-Fi.  If USB is working, then it's likely the printer was not actually connected wirelessly on your previous attempts.  If you decide you want to try again, see my post above.
