Hello, and welcome to the Canon Community!

Here is how you can connect your PIXMA TS6520 to a MacBook Air.

You have two main options: wireless (which we recommend for the easiest experience) or using a USB cable.

🌐 Method 1: Wireless Connection (Recommended)

We designed this to be straightforward using our "Easy Wireless Connect" method.

  1. Start the Setup: On your MacBook Air, please open a browser and go to our dedicated setup site: https://canon.us/TS6520setup.

  2. Download Software: The site should detect your Mac's operating system. Go ahead and download the setup software.

  3. Prep the Printer: On your TS6520, press and hold the Wireless connect button (it’s the one that looks like a smartphone) for about three seconds. This puts it in setup mode.

  4. Run the Software: Open the file you just downloaded on your Mac to launch the installer.

  5. Follow On-Screen Steps: The software will guide you from here. It will find the printer, ask for your Wi-Fi password to get the printer on your network, and install the necessary drivers.

  6. Add the Printer: The installer will prompt you to add the printer. This will open your Mac's Printers & Scanners settings. Just select the TS6520 from the list and click "Add."

🔌 Method 2: USB Cable Connection

If you prefer a wired connection, you'll need a USB "A-to-B" cable (the standard square-ish printer cable). Note that this cable isn't included in the box.

  1. Go to the Support Site: On your MacBook Air, head over to the Canon USA support page for the PIXMA TS6520.

  2. Download Drivers: Look for the "Software & Drivers" section. Make sure your macOS version is correct, and download the "CUPS Printer Driver" or the "Full Driver & Software Package."

  3. Run the Installer: Open the downloaded file to start the installation.

  4. Select Connection: When the installer asks, choose "USB Connection."

  5. Connect the Cable: The installer will tell you the exact moment to plug the USB cable into your printer and your Mac. Please wait until it prompts you. (You may need a USB-C adapter for your MacBook Air).

  6. Add Printer: The software will detect the connected printer. Follow the last few steps on-screen to finish the installation and add the printer to your Printers & Scanners list.
