I have a canon pixma mg2522 am running win 8.1 and tonight I could not use my Scanner it gave no error code all it said was Printer is in use but there is nothing in the que. Please help, as I need to scan documents to fax them. I already checked to see if  the plugs were loose but they are not. it shows the printer is there, I am out of ink right now but that is the only issue. I checked to also see if I needed new Drivers and they are all up to Date. Thank you for any help!

Re: re scanner

Hi butterflyer8000,

It sounds like the print spooler in your computer needs to be restarted. Please follow these steps to try and restart the print spooler:

  • Make sure your printer is turned on.
  • Hold down the WINDOWS KEY on your keyboard and then tap the "R" key. This will cause a box to open on your screen.
  • Type "services.msc" into the box and then click Enter.
  • After a few seconds another box will open with a list of services.
  • Scroll down to "Print Spooler."
  • Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Stop." A small progress box will appear for a few seconds and then vanish.
  • Right-click "Print Spooler" again and select "Start."

Re: re scanner

Hi butterflyer8000,

If the printer is out of ink, the low ink error will prevent the printer from operating. You can try holding the stop button down on the printer for 5 seconds to clear the low ink error state the printer is in. If that does not work, you would need to replace the ink cartridges to resume normal operation of the printer.
