TS9020 has lost wireless conection

Our Canon TS9020 lost its wireless connection overnight. On the printer screen there is a red X on the wireless portion.  We have tried multiple connections and restarts.  Our wireless router is working with other devices.  I have watched the Canon videos, but they just tell me how to set it up.

Any advice on why my wireless connection disappeared and how resolve this issue.  We have a Macbook running OS 10.14.4

Hi pres64,

With the information provided, I would recommend resetting the printers network card followed by reconnecting the printer to the network via the Manual Connect method. The following steps will assist you:

Resetting the Network Card:

  1. Press the GEAR icon.
  2. Press SETTINGS.
  3. Press DEVICE SETTINGS.
  4. Slide your finger from the BOTTOM to the TOP of the screen.
  5. Press RESET SETTINGS.
  6. Press LAN SETTINGS ONLY.
  7. Press YES.
  8. The printer will reset the LAN settings.
  9. The message, "Following is completed." will appear on the screen, press OK.
  10. Press the BACK (U-turn) button one time.

Now that the network card has been reset, next connect the printer to the network, you will need your network  name and password to complete this step:

WIRELESS SETUP:

Slide your finger from the TOP to the BOTTOM of the screen.

Press LAN SETTINGS

Press WIRELESS LAN

Press WIRELESS LAN SETUP

Press MANUAL CONNECT

Press YOUR NETWORK NAME (You may have to scroll down the list).

If your network has a password, Enter Passphrase will appear on the screen.

Press PLEASE ENTER to enter your network password.

As you enter your password, instead of letters or numbers, asterisks will appear in the white bar at the top for each character.

When entering your password; by default, lower-case letters will appear on the screen.

To access upper-case letters, press the UP arrow icon in the lower left corner.

To access numbers and special characters, press the capital A | two arrows chasing each other | number 1 | at symbol icons in the lower left corner.

By chance, a character needs to be deleted, press the enclosed x icon in the lower right corner.

Upon completion of entering your password, press OK.

Asterisks will appear on the screen in boxes, press OK.

The message, “Connected to the wireless router.” will appear on the screen, press OK.

Press HOME icon.

Print test page.

If you are still unable to print from your computer, confirm that the printer and computer are on the same network. The following steps will assist:

On the Printer

Press the Wi-Fi icon.

The message, "Password information may be included in the setting information displayed hereafter." press YES.

Locate SSID and confirm the network name.

On the Computer

Locate the Time and Date in the Upper Right Corner

Click on the Wi-Fi icon.

Confirm your Computer and Printer are on the Same network.

*If your computer is on a different network, adjust to the network the printer is on.

@pres64,

The steps above should get you out of the situation you are facing now.

Additionally, once the printer is reconnected, give it static IP on your router.  Either by assigning it an adress based on its MAC or by giving it an IP above or below your DHCP pool.

Why? Doing this ensures your printer's IP will never change.  Your router will always give it the same IP , regardless of how oftern it is used, turned off, goes to sleep, etc.

Other devices on your network will always be able to "find" and print to the printer because it's IP will never change. This is a reliable method for ensuring you always know the IP of your device.
