Pixma MP560 and New PC Prints But Won't Scan

Bruno1

I have a new PC using WIndows 10.  My Pixma MP560 prints just fine, but it will not scan. Driver seems to install. I'm using it wirelessley.  At one point the printer could not be found, so I turned off the firewall and tried again.  Now it says the navigator is not installed correctly.  Not sure how to solve this?  Any help?

Hi Bruno1,

Reinstalling both the drivers and software for the printer from the Canon USA website may resolve the issue you are experiencing.

Prior to reinstalling the drivers and software, we will want to uninstall the drivers and MP Navigator program versions that are currently on your computer. To do this, please follow these steps:

1. Right-click over the Windows Start button, then select the PROGRAM AND FEATURES option.

2. Locate your PIXMA MP560 printer in the list and select the UNINSTALL option.

3. Press the EXECUTE button, and if prompted if you are sure that you want to uninstall the drivers, please click on YES. The printer drivers should begin uninstalling. Once uninstallation is completed, please press the COMPLETE button to finalize the uninstallation.

4. Once the drivers have been uninstalled, please locate the MP NAVIGATOR program in the list and then uninstall it.

5. Restart your computer.

Once the computer restarts, we will now want to reinstall the printer and software using the latest drivers from the Canon USA website. Please click here to go to the Drivers and Downloads page for the PIXMA MP560. Once on the page, please do the following:

1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" field is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system. Please note that you may need to scroll up or down in the list to select your operating system.

2. Next, below the red box labeled DRIVERS, locate the MP DRIVERS file, then click the SELECT button to the right of the filename. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear; please click on that button to begin the file download

3. Once the drivers have been downloaded, please also download the MP NAVIGATOR program from the SOFTWARE section of the webpage.

4. Once all items have been downloaded, please right-click over each of the files, select the RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR option, then follow the prompts to reinstall the printer drivers and MP Navigator program on your computer.  Please install the MP DRIVERS file first.

Prior to reinstalling the drivers and software, please ensure that any antivirus or firewall programs that may be on your computer are temporarily disabled, as these programs can sometimes prevent the drivers and software from installing successfully. Once all items are installed successfully, the protection software can be re-enabled.

Once all items have been reinstalled, please restart your computer and attempt to print and scan again.

Hope this helps!  Should you still experence difficulty, we ask that you please contact a Canon technical support representative here for further assistance. A representative will be happy to assist you free of charge.
