Pixma MP500, Window7 and need to use compatability troubleshooter every time

I have a Pixma MP500 with the most recent drivers which have been uploaded and reinstalled several times.  My computer is running windows 7. Using MP Navigator 2.0 and trying to scan  it always comes up with "scan Failed".  If I use the built in Windows Compatability Troubleshooter and change to Windows XP (service pack 2) it works as long as the troubleshooter is open. Even though I save the change the compatability through the troubleshooter and it shows up in the properties later, when I restart MP it goes back to "Scan Failed".  The printing function has no problem printing.

Can someone tell me what is going wrong and how to fix it.

Hi vstelmack,

Since you are using the most up-to-date drivers from our website, this sounds like an issue with the operating system.  But before investigating any issues with the OS, I recommend contacting us for more interactive troubleshooting of the printer drivers and installation.
