Pixma MP250 lights flashing and not working.

Hi. I have sort of inherited a Canon Pixma MP250. Apparently it was working fine until a few days ago, but now that I've got it connected to my PC it just flashes all its lights and does nothing else. The main screen flashes 1, 0, P alternately, and the fault light and the C and B lights flash alternately. I've put new ink cartridges in it, and have loaded the paper correctly.

Is there some way of correcting this?

Many thanks.

Steve.

Hi steveparker333,

The P 1 0  error is an indication that the printer is experiencing an internal error.  Please follow these steps to resolve this issue:

 1.  Connect the power cord to your PIXMA MP250.

 2.  Turn your PIXMA MP250 on.

 3.  Open the cover.  The carriage that holds the ink will move to the replacement location.  If it does not , please look inside of the PIXMA MP250 for anything that may be obstructing the movement of the carriage.

 4.  Remove both ink cartridges.

 5.  Once both cartridges are removed, unplug the power to the printer (without turning it off).

 6.  Reconnect the power cord.

 7.  Turn your PIXMA MP250 on.

 8.  Open the cover.

 9.  Make sure the orange cap is off of the bottom of the black cartridge.

10.  Place the black cartridge in the bottom of the printer.

11.  Slide the black cartridge back until is cannot go back any further.

12.  Push down on the Cartridge Locking Lever until a clicking noise is heard.

13.  Make sure the orange cap is off of the bottom of the color cartridge.

14.  Place the color cartridge in the bottom of the printer.

15.  Slide the color cartridge back until is cannot go back any further.

16.  Push down on the Cartridge Locking Lever until a clicking noise is heard.

17.  Close the cover.  The printer will make some noise for a few moments, and then return to standby.

If the error returns, the unit would require service. You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET).  If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight.  Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
