Pixma MG5720 print issues

Hey, I'm having some weird issues with my MG5720. First, I want to say that I LOVE this printer, I really don't want to replace it unless I absolutely have to.

That said, a while back I got an issue about there being a paper jam. I finally got that cleared (can't remember how, but there wasn't an actual jam when it happened). Since then, my black ink cartridge has issues. I'm attaching some scans of prints that I just did to show what's going on. I've also had a weird issue where most of the page prints double, I'm thinking the timing strip may need cleaned but right now, this issue is far worse.

I've ran the nozzle clean, deep clean, and I even found a video online and removed/cleaned the printhead. Still having the same issue.

Hi YmerejO42,

It would appear as though the encoder/timing strip in your PIXMA MG5720 is dirty or smudged and would need to be cleaned.  To clean the encoder/timing strip, please follow the steps outlined in the following Knowledgebase Article available from Canon's web site:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART164632

If the issue persists, please clean the encoder again.

If you are unable to get a good print after cleaning the encoder, your PIXMA MG5720 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
