I have only used this printer a few times and only printed out about 30 items. I am now getting an error message with code number 1303 paper jammed in machine. I have checked everywhere and there is not a piece of paper or even a shred of paper anywhere that I can see, Anyone know what the problem might be ?

Its a $50 dollar printer. Should it work. Yes. But don't expect longivity from a something made primarily of plastic.
You can also try Canon Support if its still under warranty.

The 1303 error can also be caused if the cassette is not aligned when you push it back. Please refer to the picture below:
