PIXMA MG 3122 Ink Overflow tank full

Ryerkes

Have had this printer for 6-7 years and it has performed admirably other than inability to link to wireless router. It stopped functioning due to ink overflow allegedly reaching capacity. I have opened up and cleaned out the overflow tank. However, it appears that the only way to reset the "counter" to end the RB002 error and resume functioning id to employ a "support Tool V3.400. This doe not appear to be a canon sanctioned product. Does anyone have experience with this product? Does Canon not supply the softeare to make the fix to the overflow ink "counter".

It doe seem that there is no real "sensor" that detects the level in the overflow tank rather the pages are counted or the like to guestimate when the tank has reached capacity. Is that correct?

Greetings,

The reset tool is not intended for end users.

MG3122.  This was one of Canon's most basic and inexpensive AIO printers.

Two trains of thought on this:

1. I want to use my printer to the bitter end.  I have the time to tinker and experiment.

2. I got 6-7 years of use out of this printer.  Its reached the end of its useable life.  I need something that works and wouldn't mind having my wi-fi work too.

I don't know how the printer measures its over flow tank.  Never bothered to check.  The lower end line of printers have tanks, or pads that have a service life.  While you can have them serviced, the cost often exceeds replacement.  Not to mention the technology improvements that occur every 5-7 years.
