MX870 not printing

I recently changed ink cartridges in my MX870 printer.  It will now not print documents from my computer.  It will however print the nozzle check test page. The paper feeds as it is supposed to do, but no ink on page. Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this to occur?

Hi Darkknight,

 

In order to better assist you, allow me to ask a couple questions:

 

  • Does a black grid pattern appear at the top of the Nozzle Test page?
  • Are you able to make a photocopy?
  • What is written on the ink cartridge labels, from top to bottom?

Does your test page look like this example:

If not, please perform Deep Cleanings.  Please perform the following steps to perform a Deep Cleaning: 

 

 1.  Press the MENU button on your PIXMA MX870.

 

 2.  Select Maintenance then press the OK button.

 

 3.  Press OK to select Maintenance.

 

 4.  Select Deep Cleaning and press OK.

 

 5.  Press OK to select Yes.

 

The Deep cleaning will be performed.  After 2 or 3 cleanings, print another test page.

Hi Mussie_okbe,

 

If your PIXMA MX870 does not print the black grid after performing 4 deep cleanings, your PIXMA MX870 would require service. You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
