I recently bought a new Microsoft Surface Pro and my Canon MX490 will not print from it. I've downloaded and installed the software and downloaded updated drivers. The printer worked fine on my previous laptop, and I am able to print from my iPhone. I downloaded the app for the printer and whenever I check the printer status through the app, it shows 'online'. When I attempt to print from Word, it says that it is "connecting to printer" for a few seconds, then shows "ready". When I hit print though, it processes for a several seconds and then gives a generic "Error printing on Canon MX 490 Series - The printer couldn't print (Document Name)" and provides no other details.

Stop beating your head against the wall. Your surface pro, like mine, if you have the ARM processor, print drivers will not install until the printer manufacturer develops an ARM print driver.
