MG3650 not connecting

wazza

Hi,

My original Canon MG3650 printer broke, however I was given another Canon MG3650 which works fine at the address the person who gave me it lives at.

My problem is I cannot seem to get it to connect to my computer properley.

I have tried connecting it wirelessly through my hub and the printer works but the scanner won't.

I then  deleted everything and thought the best solution would be to try and connect it directly through the cable - but it still will not complete the installation from the disc. The printer seems to work but when I go to the scanner I was getting the error message - 'scanner turned off, or usb not connected' - however the printer worked!!!. However on the disc connection it never fully installs past step 2-3.

I am using the original disc when connecting through the cable, the programe gets to step 2 where you plug the cable into the back of the printer and turn it on. The message comes up that the printer is detected, however it seems to freeze between step 2 and 3 all the time and the message comes up printer not detected - however it was detected originally but seems to have lost the connection. I have tried doing a factory reset on the printer, changing the cable, the usb socket, the option of the drivers from the disc and the option of updated driver but I still cannot get the printer and scanner to work.

Have you any ideas on fixing this issue.
