MG3620 Missing a whole column while printing

yasz73

Hi all, when printing, it basically "jumps over" an entire vertical column of the paper, leaving that entire column blank, and then distorting further and further as it moves to subsequent lines. I've attached an example of the print test, because aligning the printer heads did not resolve the issue.printer issue.JPG

Hi yasz73,

Please try an encoder cleaning:

If the issue persists after cleaning, your PIXMA MG3620 would require service. You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET).  If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight.  Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Greetings,

This doesn't look like an alignment issue.  Is it possible the printhead is clogged?

Have you cleaned the printhead?

Do pages of black text print correctly?

Is this a new problem, what has changed?  For our benefit, can you give us more history.  Printer is installed under what OS, using driver version? Connected via?

Also, when it last worked, etc?

Thanks

Thanks Rick, I've done both the cleaning and deep cleaning of the printer heads. The issue occurs no matter if I'm printing black only or color (in the image, you'll see that the black is also "missing a column" although in a difference space than color.

It is a new issue. Probably haven't printed in about 3 months, and this just happened yesterday. It happens both printing from the PC as well as printing a copy from the scanner.

Printer is installed under Windows 10, most recent driver, connected via USB. Below is another image to illustrate what it is doing.
