My printer has printed anything for NEARLY A MONTH, yet newly installed C251 ink carts are showing as half used ... why is this, and what is the solution?

Hello, GeeTee!

So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know exactly what Canon equipment you're using, any error messages you're seeing, and the Computer Operating System you're using (Windows Vista/7/8/10 or macOS 10.x), as well as the way you connect to your printer (USB or networked via WiFi or Ethernet).

Any other details you'd like to give will only help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is an urgent support need, please call 1-800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666) to reach our friendly Technical Support Team by phone during the week.

Thanks and have a great day!

The printer is the Canon Pixma MX922... there is no error messgae other than the display that shows tge ink levels constantlyreducing even though there is very little to no printing avctivity... the computer is using Windows 10... the connection is through USB.

Hi GeeTee,

If the printer is left on, a cleaning will be performed periodically to refresh the print head and make sure the ink will flow normally.  This process does consume a small amount of ink and, over time, will deplete the ink cartridges.  If you won't be using the printer for an extended period of time, I would recommend turning the printer off until needed.
