When I installed IJ Scan Utility it reported that it could not find the scanner and suggested that the scanner was not connected. I use a USB connection and the Pixma TS8020 was connected and turned on. I then installed the Lite version of the same utility and it immediately recognised the printer/scanner and worked normally. What's causing the problem? I am using Mac Sierra OS.

Hi Beetone,
IJ Scan Utility Lite was developed for newer versions of the Macintosh OS and takes advantage of the Macs native AirPrint feature. IJ Scan Utility is a TWAIN-based imaging program that may not be fully supported by your Mac.

I guess it answers my question. Not the answer I had hoped for, though.
