I upgraded my Mac to OS 10.12 Sierra, now my Canon MG5250 will only print word docs. No pdf or PP.

I'm not sure if this is the printer or the Mac however since upgrading my operating system on my Mac to Sierra I can no longer print any PDF's or PowerPoints, only word seems to work. It just fires out blank paper. The printer message is: stopped. 'Filter' failed. Any ideas gratefully received!
