Canon imageRUNNER C5185-H1 Prints Magenta-backgrounded Pages

Canon imageRUNNER c5185 with H1 Fiery has started to sporadically print pages with dark-pink backgrounded pages. It normally will not print up to about a 16th of an inch at the edge of a page, but the pink background extends evenly over the page, even at the very edges. There is also a lot of magenta toner in the waste toner cartridge. It will do this on all pages of one print job, and then be totally normal on the next print job. Doing a Quick Auto Gradation will usually bring the following print job it back to a white background. We have replaced the toner cartridges, the drums and the color boards. Any explanation? Thanks!

Thanks for posting! Canon does not provide direct support for imageRUNNER series products, but your dealer will be able to help you! If you don't have a dealer, please call us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) and we will be happy to provide you with the names of dealers who are in your area!

Our dealer is TPM of Charlotte and they have not been able to figure out what the problem is. That is why I asking for some guidance from Canon at the corporate level. The C5185 is still printing magenta-backgrounded pages; now differing gradations within a print job. A lot of magenta toner in the waste toner cartridge.

Spoiler
Update 08-07-2013: Yesterday Bennie Gaskins (Canon Field Rep up from Atlanta) and Bill Weatherford, our service technician, performed a variety of tests and then replaced the magenta drum again, thinking that replacing one of the color boards (not sure that is the correct name) may have damaged the magenta drum at the same time. Seemed like success; went through a ream of paper and had all white pages for a day. Today, 24 hours later, back to magenta-backgrounded pages. Aarrgh!  Next up will be replacing Control Board I and/or II (not sure of the correct name).
