Canon MG5350 - Scanner software

Hi,

the printer has been working fine using my previous laptop.

Having a new laptop I have the problem that the previous software for scanning (Canon MP Navigator EX 5.0) does not seem to be available anymore. Instead I am supposed to use My Image Garden. So I have installed this and at first sight it looks good. But trying my first scan presents me with a  bad surprise. Starting the software the icon for scanning is grey (see the image hereafter). I found no way to solve that problem.

Anybody out there to assist?

I guess it would be possible to install Canon MP Navigator EX 5.0 again but would that be advisable? I do not like outdated software which would not be supported by Canon any further on my machine.

Hi Patrick,

you are right, as I have had contact with Canon Germany in the meantime. Image Garden seems not able to do the scanning at least for MG5350. Therefore: The website of Canon is creating a wrong impression as if Image Garden is the allround new solution. But on the other hand they indeed list Canon MP Navigator at the bottom of this page (go to Windows 10 - 64bit)

So, in my case I need Canon Easy-PhotoPrint for printing on CDs and Canon MP Navigator EX for scanning.

For me Image Garden is useless.

OK, I have wasted a lot of time but have clarified things a bit I hope so that others who may read this may have less trouble.

Hi Carlos44,

 

If you would rather use the MP Navigator EX, it is available for download from Canon's web site.

 

To download and install MP Navigator EX for your PIXMA MG5320, please follow these steps:

 

 1.  Visit Canon's website at: http://usa.canon.com/support

 

 2.  Type PIXMA MG5320 in the "Enter a Model" box and click GO.

 

 3.  In the Drivers & Downloads section, please click the Software tab.

 

 4.  Click the Select button next to the MP Navigator EX.

 

 5.  Click the Download button.

 

 6.  A File Download box may appear.  If it does, select Save.

 

 7.  Once the download is complete, open your Downloads folder.

 

 8.  Double click the [mpnx_5_0-win-5_0_2-ea23_2.exe].

 

Follow the prompts to install the MP Navigator EX on your computer.

thank you very much, you presented the perfect solution!

In the meantime I had contacted the German support of Canon and was surprised how easy that was, fantastic service! But, after that I was not so happy.

They had sent me a mail advising in detail that I should uninstall and thereafter reinstall the software using links they had provided. I carefully followed their advice but without success! The result was the same as before, the scanning function was not available. So I did as you suggested and leave it as it is.

Conclusion: The website of Canon is wrong, which does not list Canon MP Navigator EX 5.0 as software for the Printer MG5350 instead is pointing to Image Garden which is supposed to have replaced previous software. Canon should be told to correct that.

So now I am running Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX together with Canon MP Navigator EX 5.0. The first one is important for me to print on CDs the latter one is vital for scanning.

I do not know, however, whether the problem described only appears on German pages.

Anyway, apart from the fact that I have wasted a lot of time, I am quite happy now.
