I have this problem on a Canon MG4120 printer. I take a rolled-up length of toilet paper and blot the area below the printer cartridge, multiple times until the paper is not showing much ink being taken up. Then the printer will print in black again, for awhile, then the problem recurrs. It seems to go a week or so between failures. So I may keep this up for awhile before I get a new printer....
