pwershot sd 20 can not read the card

i have had not used the sd 20 camera for a long time. i wanted to give it to my son and put the sd card in but the camera can not read it.i used several other cards but with the same result.what gives? thanks

It seems not the card problem. Is the camera memo card slot clean?

It's not likely to be the card slot. Your PowerShot SD20 is a rather old camera, and the SD card is limited to about 512MB. You cannot use any SD card other than one labelled SD. SDXC, SDHC, and SD over 1GB will not work in that camera. Those original SD cards are rather hard to come by these days. A 1GB or 2GB might work, but only if its a straight SD card. My A510 from that era is like that too, and the largest card I can use is the 2GB SD.
