Finding errors in metadata when shooting in RAW with the Canon SX60. Errors show wide angle settings at 4mm when it should read 21mm. At max zoom it reads 241mm. In the Jpg setting metadata apprears to work fine. I need accreate information for club salon competition postings. Thank you

Hi agingyooper!

Welcome to the Canon USA Community Forums!

When you imported your photos to your computer, did you use the Canon software? Were they edited or altered in any way other than by the Canon software?

The reason we ask this is because it's not unlikely that editing by other software could conceivably alter your EXIF or metadata to include unexpected information.

If you haven't already, you might want to verify you're using the most current version of the Canon Digital Camera software, including the most recent version of the individual programs like Digital Photo Professional. Everything can be downloaded  from our site HERE

Let us know what you find!

The canon software shows the same results on metadata. 247mm on max zoom and 4mm on wide angle. Any suggestions?

Hi Agingyooper,

Thanks for posting.

The readings you're seeing are correct.

Your lens's focal length range is 3.8 (W) - 247.0 (T) mm (actual); (35mm film equivalent: 21-1365mm). The information contained in RAW images is not converted to a 35mm equivalent, but is the actual (raw) data.
