If there is a problem with the sx700, Canon will be happy to replace your new camera free of charge (with a refurbished model). All you have to pay for is the shipping, and they'll send you a used camera with the same problems, then tell you you're imagining things. After all, there are no complaints from MarioV of DPR (which might as well be known as Canon PR).

Hello,
Just adding a new case even if it is Canon USA forum!
I paid attention to this topic (I'm in Europe and I wanted to buy a SX280). I gambled, I lost, having battery problem while taking a video and zooming :/
I can't say I was not aware! But I don't really shoot videos so, not a huge lost.... (from my own point of view)
It's very sad anyway Canon hasn't fixed this issue. My serial ia with *****4, the new firmware is already integrated I think.
The other point was I did not trust those early review with people who get quite early a camera which is on the market a month later... Either them, or the camera they got which can be fine tuned...
Regards

Hello
A customer on Amazon says, if you use a microsdhc card with adapter
than there is no battery indicator problem.
I don't know if it's true or not

What mem card has got to do with battery drain when zooming? I am sorry, some are so religioulsy blind that they still want to prove the earth is flat.

I read in Reader's Digest that in a ouija board spiritualist session, Harry Houdini said that if a person is immersed chained in a tank, with the Canon SX280 clamped with teeth and he escapes, the battery problem is solved !

would anyone like to guesstimate what percentage of the 280's have this problem. i prefer this model over the 260 and would take a chance on it because amazon has a great return policy...no skin off my nose. but if this is an across the board issue i won't waste my time
thx
