My zoom on the SX50 HS does not work smoothly - it always goes all the way in or out.

My zoom does not run smoothly - it always goes in or out no half way measures.  does anyone else have this problem or is it a fault on my camera?

Do you mean it doesn't stop if you remove finger from zoom actuator?

I own 2 of the SX50HS's and I dont have that problem nor have I seen it reported till now.

If your camera is still under warranty I would call Canon asap.

 

In the meantime you can try removing the battery and holding down the power button for about 30 seconds then try it you can also try a reset to defauls thru the settings menu
