If you press the display button does it go away ?

P1430369.JPG  The screen goes black when the evf is in use. This is a snap of a ceiling and appears like this on the screen. The actual file is plain on a pc viewer. Tried reverting to factory settings.

I think your going to need to send it in for repairs, at least speak to Canon about it. If you can return and replace it ?

It looks like there is some internal leakage in the LCD panel causing some of the segments to faintly light up.

I had hoped there would be software update file available!

If it is the screen, then that would not work.

One estimate - not quote - is for £75 plus carriage.

At that price I'll live with it for while until I get fed up with it.

My sis lives 2 miles from a repair centre, will take when I visit.

I do not think there any firmware/software updates that address your issue. If it is under warranty I would think it would be free service from a Canon authorized repair place...but then there's that tricky fine print. Have you spoke directly to Canon about this on the tele ?

Also you can try adjusting the display brightness through the settings and at the very least it might make it easier to live with in the meantime

Sure, it's on max brightness. Out of warranty.

Bought off eBay for £134 + £8,50 carriage so not a bad deal

as it included a Neoprene strap and a 16gb card.
