Hoping someone might know how to help me.
I was at my stepsister's wedding over the weekend and did some video as well as pictures.
I am trying to change the direction of the videos I shot. I shot the father daughter dance vertically to get her dress and such in the video perfectly, I was hoping that I could rotate it so that we would not be watching the video sideways on the disc I am burning for them.
Does anyone know how to change the direction either in the program (windows media player or something like that) or if there is some kind of free video editing software online that would do this??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

When you rotate a still image, that is all you are working with - that one single image, so many of the newer digital cameras can handle that within the camera, but a movie is nothing more than a series of hundreds of "still" images. To rotate the movie, every singe image (frame) must be rotated. That is a little more than most of the current crop of cameras can handle, so it has to be done externally. For instructions on rotating a movie with Windows Movie Maker, see the following link:
or for a free downloadable program, see:

Good luck !

Hello Ted,
I hope you see this. Thank you for your post, it worked perfect with windows movie maker. however, in 2 videos I did the begining vertically and the rest horizontally, is there a way to make it all right side up?
