Cannot connect PS ELPH 190S to Win10

KanonDug

Hello,

my wife just bought an ELPH 190IS, and we cannot connect to our Win10 machine.

  1. The Canon utility says it set the WIndows machine's WiFi settings correctly
  2. The camera connects to our home network and says it can see the machine as an access point
  3. I tell the machine to "add device" and it sees the camera
  4. I select the camera, and a few seconds later it confirms connection, it looks like an active device in machine settings, andI the "what should Windows do with this device" appears
  5. If I immediately start the CameraWindow app, it opens and looks like it's ready to go
  6. 2 seconds later the app displays "camera disconnected, app will now close"
  7. If I attempt to reconnect the camera using the WiFi button, it sits & thinks for a few minutes and then says it can't find an access point

My problem is similar to one whose resolution is at

https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/PowerShot/Powershot-G7XII-wifi-connection-Windows10/m-p/197918

but these steps do not resolve issue.

I confirmed my Win10 machine has the Windows Media Feature Pack appropriate for the build (1803), and restarted the machine after installing the Canon software and having it set

We really do not want to have to fiddle with USB cables or SD cards every time we want to get photots onto the Win machine.

Can somebody please help?
