When you turn on the camera, does any kind of start up image show at all? It's possible that you have a defective screen. Remove the battery and press and hold the power button for a few seconds. Then reinstall the battery and power up the camera and see if that changes anything. That typically resets the camera to its defaults. If that deosn't help, then you may need to contact Canon service.
