I am trying to replace the original battery with a new battery that is equal but all I can find from Canon is the lesser amperage battery. Will this battery suffice for the camera? Can I purchase the 760mAh battery? Why aren't the original design batteries available?
Thanks,
Craig

cmcalister,
The battery pack that the PowerShot SD780 IS uses is the NB-4L. The current version that is available is the only version that is available and it is a 550 mAh battery according to our website. This will be more than sufficient for the camera. This bettery can be ordered from the Canon Direct Store website.
