Transferring photos from my Canon Power Shot SX620 HS to my Mac Computer - thru USB cable

I know that I can transfer the photos via a usb cable but have forgotten the procedure. I'm not quite sure what I need to set on the camera other than turning it on. I know I have to connect the usb cable to the small receptical on the top right side of the camera. I believe I need to use a certain app, possibly the image capture app, but not sure what else I am missing, any help would be great!  Thanks, Robert

Often you just plug it in and the Mac does the rest, automatically importing into Photos. If this does not work, try running Image Capture (as you said) with the camera plugged in and on.
