Have a 1 year old SX260 HS that recently developed a problem where it won't turn on.
Works fine the first time after putting in a battery, but if we shut off the camera (or it auto shuts off), we can't get it back on.
We made sure the battery is charged and bought 2 more thinking the battery might be defective but it does the same thing on all three batteries. We tested the batteries on my parents camera (same model) and they all work fine also.
It will only reliably turn on if we reeopen the battery cover, pull out the battery and then reinstall. Tried just opening the cover but that doesn't work by itself.
Anyone have this happen to them and if so, did you find a easy fix? Unfortuately it is just out of warranty and the service cost is near the cost of a new camera so it isn't worth it IMO.

Have you tried a full re-set? Whether that will work we can only try..... maybe when it won't power up try applying very light pressure on the battery cover whilst switching it on, I'm thinking here the battery contacts might not be making fully brcause the contacts might have been 'stressed' or become oxidized causing a bad connection.
If it's non of these then it looks like it's going to have to go for a service.
