SD cards in Powershot G10

I have a Powershot G10. I've been using a 32 gb sd card in it.  I tried to format a 64gb and a 128 gb card to use in it. However, I get a memory card error. Will the G10 not support a card bigger than 32 gb? Both cards have been formatted for use with a different camera. I get the error message as soon as I turn the camera on with the larger cards in it.

The manual for the camera states SDHC cards. The maximum size for an SDHC card is 32GB. The camera is not compatible with SDXC cards.
