We recently purchased a Canon Powershot G15 for use in our newspaper publishing. The all-around usefulness and excellent image quality have been amazing - even better than some of the older DSLRs we have been using.
We've used it for events, people shots, portraits and even volleyball, basketball and football.
If the G15 is that good, I wonder how much better the G1X might be with its larger sensor.

Hi mollfoto!
Thanks for posting.
There is an advantage to using a larger image sensor, such as the one in the PowerShot G1X. The PowerShot G1X provides great natural blurring, low light shooting capability and low noise in the images. I recommend you take a look at the sample images we have posted on our website.
